Frequently
Asked Questions
How would you describe the experience of working with you as my architect? +–
Working with Mitchell Wall offers a unique and innovative experience where every effort is made to create a home uniquely tailored to your lifestyle. Each design we create is one-of-a-kind, reflecting our commitment to individuality and personalization. We believe that our best work emerges from close collaboration with our clients, valuing your input as essential to the creative process.
Will you remain with the project during the construction process? +–
From the initial programming meeting to the day you receive your keys, Mitchell Wall is with you every step of the way. We are not only your architects and designers but also your project managers and representatives throughout the construction process.
Our team conducts weekly site meetings to ensure that each detail is built to our specifications, meeting the highest standards, and delivering precisely what you envisioned for your new home. We rigorously review and authorize contractor pay requests only when fully satisfied with their work, allowing you to maintain a positive, collaborative relationship with your builder while we manage the details in the field.
Does your firm offer construction services? +–
While we don’t directly offer construction services, we collaborate with some of the finest contractors available in your area. For projects in new regions, we conduct thorough research to identify top-tier builders, ensuring that the selections we present meet our standards for quality and professionalism. We introduce only contractors whom we trust to deliver exceptional craftsmanship and a seamless experience, providing you with the highest quality home.
What is the average timeline for developing a set of drawings? +–
Each client is unique, and so is every project. While timelines can vary due to multiple factors, we estimate an average of six months from the initial programming meeting to the completion of construction documents, including the interior design phase.
Will you make 2D or 3D models of my project? +–
Absolutely! We understand that visualizing a design through 2D drawings can be challenging. Ensuring our clients fully grasp the design is a top priority, as there is no worse feeling than arriving in a new home that doesn’t match expectations.
Early in the design process, we provide virtual models, 3D walkthroughs, photorealistic renders, and detailed interior perspectives to give you a complete and accurate view of your future home. Once the design is finalized, we also create a physical scale model that not only illustrates the home’s form but can be disassembled to reveal floorplans within. This invaluable tool truly brings the project to life.
Why should we use you for interior design? +–
We are not only highly acclaimed interior designers with a history of top national and international awards, but we also integrate interior design seamlessly into our architectural timeline. Unlike many designers who develop interiors “on the fly” during construction, we complete this process before selecting a contractor. This approach enables accurate contractor bids and results in significant time and cost savings throughout construction.
What services are offered by your interior designers? +–
Our interior designers assist you in selecting every detail, from furniture and flooring to all the finishing touches. We provide material samples for curtains and upholstery and help curate art for your new home. We manage every aspect. Our interior design process, like our architectural design process, is not complete until you are fully satisfied.
We have established relationships with a wide range of vendors, allowing us to access exclusive trade discounts that we pass along to you. Additionally, we handle the storage of items until they are ready for use and oversee their installation when the time comes.
How much do you charge for your services? +–
Architectural and design fees vary by project based on scope and complexity. As a guideline, clients should plan to allocate approximately 10% of their estimated construction costs for architectural and interior design services with Mitchell Wall. Additionally, we recommend reserving 1% of the construction cost for civil engineering, 1% for structural engineering, and 3-5% for landscape design and installation.
Will working with an architect save me money? +–
Working with Mitchell Wall undeniably saves you money during the construction process. We are known for delivering some of the most comprehensive construction documents in the industry, leaving nothing to chance. Each set undergoes multiple internal reviews, ensuring all details are meticulously checked and any discrepancies are resolved before issuance. This thorough approach enables a smoother, more efficient construction process, preventing costly delays and reducing the risk of errors or change orders in the field.
